In a small community in Cuba, the passing of the local doctor is marked. Outside of this we see an artist, who did not attend the ceremony, but yet has a connection with the late woman.
A dramatic story that goes direct to the heart since it displays the heroism and self-sacrifice which are so often exhibited by the folk in the humble walks of life. Comrades once, then rivals, but when one discovers the other going into the quarry where a blast will shortly explode, he rushes in and saves the rival's life at the expense of his own.
