For over 20 years, Tun Dr Mahathir (TDM) had lead Malaysia. In that time, significant policies pertaining to Malaysia's relationship towards its neighbours and partners had developed, especially in trying to make Malaysia less dependent to its then traditional partners like the UK and the US.
