Jonathan Strahan is known for his ability to select and collect the year's best stories in the genres of science fiction and fantasy. He has done several of these volumes, and the 2012 edition is one of his best.

Every year I buy several "Year's Best" anthologies, and overall I'm pleased with how sophisticated these collections tend to be. The stories in this anthology are sharp and smart and engaging, and they cover a gamut of styles and subject matters.

This book is predominately stories written by women for women. I read a lot of anthologies but this is first one that I have skipped over 95% of the stories.
